Description

Images from Sravanbelagola Jain temple and shrine in Karnataka, Southern India. The series features images of the statue of Gomateshwara (Bahubali) a Jain monk who achieved moksha. The statue, built around 980CE, 57 feet high and carved from a single piece of rock. There are also images of Jain devotees practising a Mandal Vidhan ceremony, along with various images of carvings.
