Assessment Design Enabling students to demonstrate achievement of the desired learning outcomes for each module or other piece of learning they have undertaken.
Submission and Marking Students hand over completed assignments to the appropriate person so that their work may be formally evaluated against a set of predefined assessment criteria and marks and feedback provided.

Reflecting on Feedback Student learning takes place through an iterative process of reflecting on how progress matches against learning outcomes. Staff review the effectiveness of assignments in order to continuously improve curriculum design and delivery.

Overview Electronic Marking and Feedback - AimsTo benefit student learningTo enhance the value of feedback practices, including peer review and reflective practiceTo enhance programme assessment and feedback strategiesTo provide flexibility and choice for staff and studentsTo encourage staff development re. making better use of online assessment and feedback Electronic submission, marking and feedback benefit different stakeholders in the following ways: Students:can submit assignments without having to be physically present on campuscan remain anonymous where anonymous marking applies can access their feedback at a time and place which suits them, and in the same location online as their original submissioncan export their assignments and feedback to their e-portfolio (Mahara) Tutors:can avoid carrying around heavy loads of papercan use Turnitin originality reports to detect plagiarism and instances of poor referencing (subject to the Faculty Policy on the use of Turnitin)can reduce printing and environmental costsare assured that all student work and feedback is safely stored Administrative Staff:can access a complete archive of student work and feedbackcan reduce consumption of paper, printing, photocopying and postagecan reduce physical storage space required. External Examiners:can expect an improved service in terms of speed and accessibilitycan access the sample of work at a time and place which suits them or have access to the whole cohort of workdo not have to return packages of student work reducing the risk of lost work and other security issues.
