This tutorial explains how to change the default format of a new module run to ensure that it matches the format of the previous run.

When I roll my module content over, how can I make sure the format remains the same?

When you see this symbol, follow the instructions.

The content rollover process does not bring over the module format from the previous run to the new one. So, if you changed the format of the previous module, you will need manually to replicate the format change in the subsequent run when rolling content over.

If the content of this module in grid format were rolled over to a new run in ‘collapsed topic’ format, the new run of the module would look different, even though the content is the same.

Change the format of the new course to match the previous one

Click on 'Edit settings' under Course administration.

To avoid this problem, make sure the new run of your module has the same format as the previous run. Change the format of the new run before rolling the content over from the previous run.

Default Collapsed Topics Format

When a new run of your module is created for you, it has the 'Collapsed Topics’ format by default.

The format of the previous run of the module may be different.

In this example it is a customised version of the 'Grid' format.

Your new module will now be in the default grid format, which looks like this. Further changes may be necessary as the default background colour, borders and labels may be different.
