To what extent could the approaches to sexual and gender equality in Nepal and India be transplanted into a Bangladeshi context?

Abstract

This dissertation explores the possible effects of introducing Indian and Nepalese legal methods of regulating protective laws of gender and sexuality into the Bangladeshi jurisdiction. This matter will be investigated in detail with the viability and effect of legal transplantation by taking into account the cultural context, legal frameworks of India, Nepal and possibly inserting it into the jurisdictions of Bangladesh. The opinions of experts and academics, the institutional capacity in Bangladesh and the human rights of the LGBT+ community will be discussed vividly in this dissertation. Lastly, this dissertation will see if legal transplantations are a viable strategy for Bangladesh.
