Edutainment

Abstract

Edutainment is a popular interpretation method that is transforming how visitors engage with their experiences in order to provide memorable encounters. Although experienced in a range of activities from education, healthcare and gaming, this paper emphasises its application within the tourism industry, specifically heritage tourism. Addressing its conceptual development, this paper explores the ongoing debate relating to edutainment and its associations with Disney and commercialisation. It also presents an analysis of how edutainment methods in order to demonstrate the relationship between its education and entertainment elements. Finally, this paper emphasises the significance of edutainment for future practice with a discussion of current experience-driven consumerism.
