This editorial article outlines some of the main debates and issues pertaining to transgender people in the workplace. It briefly reviews some of the principal extant theoretical and empirical approach for examining transgender issues in the workplace, before highlighting examples of urgent areas for future scholarship. The articles included in this special issue on transgender and gender minorities in the workplace are outlined and embedded in the context in the editorial.
