Dark tourism has become a major contributor to the wider tourism industry. While traditionally its visitor experiences have relied on static, non-personal interpretation methods, technological advances and changes in demand have triggered a rising trend of edutainment interpretation which blurs the boundaries of entertainment and education to create simulated and engaging moments of history. These experiences have long been criticised within the academic community as frivolous amusements that trivialise history. However, considering the growing public preference for edutainment experiences, it is necessary that this topic be brought to the forefront of research. This chapter discusses the use and growing trend of edutainment interpretation within dark tourism practice. Finally, it sets out predictions of future trends based on current edutainment practices and visitor observations within the context of dark tourism.
