An inspirational student midwife was honoured this week for her passion and commitment at a prestigious awards ceremony in Central London.
The Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, sponsored by The Belgian Embassy in the UK, was presented on 18 May to Jane Carpenter, a student studying Midwifery at Oxford Brookes.
Jane was recognised by Cavell Nurses’ Trust for her enthusiasm, commitment and hard work in her midwifery studies and wins a £1,500 prize fund to put towards a travel placement of her choice, enabling her to further develop her skills as a midwife.

Jane commented: “I’m honoured to have won this award and to have the opportunity to attend the International Conference for Normal Birth, taking place in Australia late this year which is what I will be putting my prize fund towards. Thank you Cavell Nurses’ Trust.”
The ceremony took place in front of a packed audience of nurses, midwives and healthcare leaders from around the UK. Special guest speaker at the ceremony, Sally Gunnell OBE DL said: “It’s a real pleasure to share in the excitement of the Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards. The world of athletics demands commitment and determination and it’s fantastic to see nurses and midwives are recognised for those values too.”
