Strategies for success in academic writing: course summary

This course will take you through the key steps involved in completing a writing project. The course is designed to support your completion of a publication or other project you are near to finishing, but it will also be useful to kick-start your academic writing, or help you overcome the challenges of juggling writing with a busy professional life.

The main topics covered are: planning research writing, submitting publications, conducting peer review, revising texts, and enhancing your productivity as an academic writer. It is a requirement of this course that you identify a writing project you can complete or progress within a four-week timeframe. You will be expected to dedicate six hours per week to this course. You will be asked to share your writing project-in-progress with a colleague on the course in order to practice conducting peer review and revising texts.
