Abstract

Commemorative medal for the centenary of the Wesleyan tradition in 1839. One side depicts John Wesley, the other Centenary Hall, London. Design created by C.F. Carter.

Made in white metal. 65mm diameter. Obverse: Bust of John Wesley wearing ecclesiastical vestments, left. JOHN WESLEY, M.A. BORN AT EPWORTH, JUNE 17th DIED IN LONDON MARCH 2nd 1791. Reverse: Facade of a building. CENTENARY OF WESLEYAN METHODISM, 1839. Below “THE WORLD IS MY PARISH”. In exergue: CENTENARY HALL/AND MISSION HOUSE/LONDON.
