Brookes strengthens alumni relationships in India

14/10/2016

Oxford Brookes is launching international alumni events in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai next week (18 - 22 October).

The alumni events which will give attendees the opportunity to meet current University alumni, as well as prospective students and become a part of new regional alumni groups.

The University has 130,000 alumni over 189 countries worldwide and the alumni community in India includes over 1,000 Oxford Brookes graduates.

We are very privileged to have so many fantastic alumni across India and I am really looking forward to these alumni events. I often hear first-hand from Indian students who have studied at Oxford Brookes just how much they have enjoyed and learned from their time with us.

Pro Vice Chancellor Paul Inman, Oxford Brookes University

Paul Inman, Pro Vice Chancellor (International Student Recruitment) at Oxford Brookes who will be leading these events said: “Oxford Brookes has a strong relationship with India and this is something I am looking forward to helping develop and grow.

“An international outlook has long been important to Oxford Brookes and, with my cross-university portfolio focusing on international student recruitment; this is something I am particularly passionate about. We know that both the diversity of a university’s student body and the extent to which its academics collaborate with international colleagues are signs of a successful, forward-thinking institution.”

In January, Oxford Brookes’ Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alistair Fitt, officially opened the University’s newly relocated India office in Chandigarh.

The office helps to deliver important services to prospective students and continues Oxford Brookes’ strong tradition of attracting Indian students to come and study at the University.

Paul continues: “We are very privileged to have so many fantastic alumni across India and I am really looking forward to these alumni events. I often hear first-hand from Indian students who have studied at Oxford Brookes just how much they have enjoyed and learned from their time with us.

“We prioritise ensuring that Indian students are well supported during their time with us and we have a well-structured support network for our international students. We are also currently working to increase the number of scholarships available. There is currently a new postgraduate scholarship available just for Indian students wishing to study motorsports.”
