Festivals and edutainment. Afterword : the future of edutainment in festival experiences

Abstract

This afterword offers insights into the ideation of this edited book and how the editors determined a dedicated text on festivals and edutainment was necessary. It also presents a review of the collection of chapters, with particular attention to the notable conclusions that were revealed throughout in support of the book’s themes: planning edutainment, audience engagement, sustainability and EDI, and experiencing edutainment. Importantly, this chapter offers a practical review of the future of edutainment within festival experiences by drawing on post-COVID reporting and advancements in technology. In closing, this chapter offers a conceptual model, which builds upon the contributing authors’ notable conclusions, to prompt necessary future research into further exploring the relationships between festivals and edutainment.
