Paul Oliver Vernacular Architecture Library Images (POVALi) comprises over 20,000 images taken by Professor Paul Oliver MBE over a period of more than 50 years.

POVALi forms part of the Paul Oliver Vernacular Architecture Library (POVAL) which also includes books, stamps, sound recordings, and correspondence. For information about POVAL please visit www.poval.org.uk or email poval@brookes.ac.uk. For information on the POVAL books and archives please click here. If you would like to use any of the images for a commercial use or publication please contact poval@brookes.ac.uk.

The research and teaching potential of this online collection of digital images would be greatly enhanced by the addition of 'tags' that describe the contents of each image. If you are interested in helping to 'tag' the images please email poval@brookes.ac.uk.

Launch event!

Join us on Wednesday 18th October 2017 from 2pm to 4:30pm in Special Collections of Oxford Brookes University Headington Library for the official launch of Paul Oliver Vernacular Architecture Library Images (POVALi).

Dr Marcel Vellinga, POVAL Trustee and Editor-in-Chief of the 2nd edition of Encyclopedia of Vernacular Architecture of the World, will introduce the collection and there will be the opportunity to browse POVALi and see selected items from the books and archive materials of POVAL.

There will also be the chance to hear about the on-going project to 'tag' the POVALi records with appropriate Subject Terms to make POVALi more accessible to researchers from a range of academic disciplines.
